We list the 2025 public holidays in Malaysia in our guide, which include Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, and state-specific holidays.

Malaysia has a diverse range of public holidays, reflecting its multicultural society. National holidays like Hari Raya Eid-ul-Fitri, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali are celebrated by Muslims, Chinese, and Hindus, respectively.

There are also holidays specific to certain states, such as Thaipusam, celebrated in Penang, Selangor, and a few other states. Islamic holidays like Muharram and Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday are observed nationwide, while Christian holidays like Christmas and Good Friday are observed in select states. The country also marks Merdeka Day on August 31 to celebrate its independence.
